• TAN AH KOW - JOIN SDP - BETTER TO JUMP FROM BUILDING
Your party is very sick, to join you , better to jump from bukit timah hill. Look at allyour party members , all such a pity lot. Think you can do a better job than the PAP, well , think you are giving lecture, well please lah, its governing a country , not playing toy leh! Think you can just brainwash singaporean, well, we are not stupid dear! Well , we will just treat you like a clown. Convince us , well , try harder!!

there's a saying, if u can't beat them, join them
• Dogeater
Nothing good comes out from a dog's mouth.

I think the SDP is doing really well. I would support the SDP if they are at my GRC. I believe with such a conviction, they would run the country well. CSC and family are smart people, at least much smarter than the present PM. I do not think they will be doing badly in the job. Honestly, I do not prefer a Singapore that seems to be doing well economically, and zero in everything else. A+ in mathematics and failed the rest. I would rather an average B Singapore for everything. In a sense, I would trade off all materialistic things for a simple freedom of speech and equality of opportunities. Get rid of the foreigners and return Singapore to
the Singaporeans. Then, I will return to Singapore.

• Disappointed Citizen - Go SDP, Go Democracy For Singapore
Dear SDP,

Go...Go SDP, Go Democracy For the poor citizens of Singapore.

The Secretary General of SDP is a brave individual who stands up to speak on the behalf on the tamed Singaporeans.

The political system of the present party, PAP has disallowed humanity, free speech, all the human rights of a human on this planet; don't mention to look after the benefits of its' citizens.

Dr Chee, to my personal opinion, should be supported by fellow Singaporeans to be a Member of Parliment (MP) and even promoted to "Minister of Democracy", if there is such a position in the cabinet.

Go SDP, Go Democracy for the Republic of SinPAPore....

You have my supports till I live.

Best Wishes

• Arixion - Master
Dear SDP,

I greatly support your party's ideology. I do think Singapore needs alot more idealism than it has now. No matter the efforts of the WP or SDA, they tend to get tied down in parochial details, and end up missing on the big picture.

However, as much as I endorse your party's ideology, I do not think that NVA should be your only means of getting your message across. There is no reason why one should discard it, but putting it as your party's sole platform paints you in exactly the light the PAP wants - desperate for votes, clamouring to get any kind of attention possible. This is not only a bane to your party - as in votes during elections - but also a bane to the rest of the opposition movement here, as the WP and SDA seriously need some 'big picture' vision. What Singapore needs, I feel, is a united opposition front, instead of several divided parties.

My two cents only, of course. Anyway, if you are not afraid to hear an alternative opinion, please call me.

Rgds,
Arix

P.S.: I am interested in joining your party, just not exactly sure if we are ready for each other.
• Devainthran - i want to seriously change singapore for our peopl

• iceberg - REFORMATION
Reinstate the Democracy System and to have two-party system emerging to balance the Singapore politics. To forge a united opposition front to challenge the might of the monolithic PAP. If Pakatan Rakyat consist of PAS, PKR, DAP in Malaysia can control almost half of the malaysian Parliament overnight so can the Opposition consist of SDA, SDP, WP. Singaporean should voices out their opinions against government policy that will affect our lives like the rising utilities, transportation and etc. I hope the SDA will gain more seat in the singapore parliament in years to come. This party mission, vision and goals is part of the reformation process in singapore politics. We just need a reliable and talented leader to lead us in the REFORMATION. Now is up to the singaporean to decide their future... The age of Reformation has come ''qoute by Anwar Ibrahim''.

Dear SDP,

It is important for people to have their own "voice" or they would be like objects, not knowing how to speak or express themselves.

I have a better understanding of politics this year. I have been watching the news in my local area in New Zealand and sometimes on TV watching BBC World News.

This year America has a change of Government, New Zealand also has a change of Government.

America: From George Bush to Barack Obama

First of all you sheepish little ignorant, distasteful brat. You have been too spoiled by your parents to know what struggle is. You are the one brainwashed into a society that has no intellect to understand that the obliterating, totalitarian force that is programming your life cares not for you, but for the security of your money in your pocket.

Subject: Who u can get for S$3.1 Million x 4
To:

FACT 1: Singapore President new pay revision from current
S$2,551 700 to 3,187 100

FACT 2: Singapore Prime Minister new pay revision from current S$2,464,000 to S$3,091 200 FACT 3: Singapore Senior
Minister new pay revision from current S$2,680,600 to S$3,091 200

FACT 4: Singapore Minister Mentor new pay revision from current S$2,656,600 to S$3,043 300

Well, for just a single Prime Minister pay at US$2million (approximate S$3.1million), who can you get to run a country like SINGAPORE....?

We can get US President Mr George Bush + UK 's Prime Minister Mr Gordon Brown + Japan 's PM Aso + Australia Prime Minister Mr Kevin Rudd + Hong Kong 's Chief Executive Mr Donald Tsang. Then we can throw in Leaders from Asean nations like, Malaysia , Russia and also
Thailand and we will still have a savings of US$163,000.

Why didn't anybody mention this in the parliamentary debate on new pay package?

USA President's pay US$ 400,000
Britian Prime Minister's pay US$ 360,000
Japan Prime Minister's pay US$300,000
Australia Prime Minister's pay US$200,000
Hong Kong Chief Executive's pay US$ 420,000
Malaysia Prime Minister's pay US$65,000
Russia Prime Minister's pay US$60,000
Thai Prime Minister's US$32,000
Total :US$1,837,000

SINGAPORE SCORED ANOTHER 1ST AWARD :

WE ARE A LEADER IN PAYING TOP DOLLARS FOR ITS PUBLIC OFFICE HOLDERS IN THE GLOBAL WORLD. SHOULDN'T WE START HEADHUNTING FOR ALL THESE WORLD LEADERS INSTEAD OF LOOKING INWARD TO RECRUIT OUR EXPENSIVE LOCALS AND SAVE OUR NATION'S TAXPAYERS MONEY? AFTER ALL SINGAPORE WELCOMES FOREIGN TALENT TO WORK AND LIVE HERE

Well, what can one say about the degree of ignorance ah kow has! Its exactly this sort of stupid rationale which was prevalent in the 60s and 70s and maybe still is that I emigrated. Then we do not have the internet, whereby we can exchane view and debate the pro and cons of a one party state[esp. one for nearly 4 decades]. Not now. Ah kow should go out more often as they say to explore or compare and listen to other alternatives. I like what I see of the sdp amongst the few opposition parties at present and will continue to support them even when I am no londer a singaporean. For the sake of the country, it has to change and you must stop sitting on your laurel and rediscover your soul and identity, if not for yourselves then for future generations
• sdparedicks

who is chee soon juan ah???
he the one who got screwed by PAP righht!!!!!!!
• sdparedicks
Haiz, not everything about the PAP government is bad, its just how you guys make a big hoo-ha out of everything. Maybe for SDP to move on, you guys must be more politically mature and behave less like 3-year-old children wanting attention. I am sure educated people like you know what i mean. :D
• jimmyboy007

• CW.TEO - My Respect to the Heroes of SDP
Dear Heroes of SDP,

I salute you. Unlike the masses of hard pressed citizens who complained & yet submitted to their fear & self interest, who chose not to make a difference to the community.

There's no doubt your mission is a "David vs Goliath" situation but I believe your voices will be heard very soon as more & more of the 2nd generation Singaporeans like me had enough of all the illogical & shocking statements made by our leaders with exorbitant pay packets but failed to protect the interest of the citizens.

I have faith that the coming election will be a historic moment of change as our new generation of Singaporeans pluck up the courage to say no to oppression of fear, unlike our older generations of Singaporeans. Communication is advancing at such a speed nowadays that no amount of policies will silence off the voices which needs to be heard.

Keep up the good work!! SDP!! Although I can't do much for you but I know whom to cast my vote.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
- Edmund Burke (1729-1797)

Why do WE sit back and watch the govt. run us into the dirt and cover it with a golden rug? It irks me to no end seeing how even the long arm of the law and the judiciaries are nothing more than dogs to the govt. and we are made sheep which are so easily appeased with the sound of money. The man on top thinks he has all the power in the world but he is dreadfully wrong. He may be the top dog in the govt., but even he is subject to the power of WE, the citizens of Singapore!

Peace,
-Sylas

Awesome Words

The most effective way to restrict democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: kings and princes, priestly castes, military juntas, party dictatorships, or modern corporations.
