Singapore Democrats

During cross-examination of Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Mr Davinder Singh repeated objected to the questions. And yet the hearing was to assess the plaintiffs' reputations so that damages could be decided.

And yet everytime the questions about the Lees' reputations were raised, Mr Singh objected. And yet none of what Dr Chee tried to ask was reported in the press.

Chee (to Lee Hsien Loong): Would you refer to pg 192 of your AEIC, para 3 and read it to us.

Mr Lee Hsien Loong starts reading. Just before he gets to the words he uttered about fixing the opposition and buying over his supporters, Mr Davinder Singh stands up.

Singh: Objection, Your Honour.

Judge: I’ll read it.

Chee: Mr Lee, you read it.

Judge: Dr Chee please tell us the relevance.

Chee: This paragraph will show it's true of him -

Judge Move on, the question is disallowed.

Chee: He has used words like "fix" and "buy votes". He's here to tell me that his reputation is based on so much. I’m here to demolish it, when he buys votes -

Judge: Disallowed.

Chee: Let it be recorded then. Mr Lee, come out and don’t hide behind your counsel. You have every opportunity to answer the questions. You allow your counsel to cover -

Singh: Objection, Your Honour.

Judge: Court has taken note of Dr Chee’s conduct.

Chee: Mr Lee, please refer to pg 39 of your AEIC sub-heading "lack of transparency." Do you agree with the last line and last paragraph that the GIC operates in secrecy?

Singh: Objection. Dr Chee is seeking to reopen the issue. This article relates to the offending words. The meaning has been taken to be false. The question of liability is done.

Chee: Turn then to pg 75 of your AEIC, bottom of the page. Is the Government transparent? Do you agree with this statement?

Singh: I object.

Judge: Irrelevent.

Chee: Do you believe the funds belongs to the people?

Singh: Irrelevent.

Chee: Same line and reason, that he is the Prime Minister and takes pride in the integrity -

Singh: The question is on the matter of Assesment of Damages -

Judge: Move on, Dr Chee.

Chee: You are the Deputy or the Vice Chairman of the GIC?

Singh: Irrelevant.

Chee: I want to establish that he says his reputation is sterling -

Singh: My client didn’t say that.

Judge: Yes.

Chee: How and where you have invested the GIC funds?

Judge: Move on.

Chee: Were you aware of the scandal at NKF -

Singh: Relevancy? NKF is a matter of liability.

Judge: Dr Chee, irrelevant.

Chee: Then you agree that T T Durai's salary was excessive?

Singh: Objection.

Judge: Sustained.

Chee: Do you agree the salary -

Singh: Your Honour, my client was not aware of the NKF scandal -

Judge: Irrelevant.

Chee: If T T Durai had a summary judgement -

Singh: Objection.

Judge: Sustained.

Chee: Do you agree that the openness of the Government -

Singh: Objection.

Judge: Sustained.

Chee: I disagree as the witness was a Prime Minister during the period and argued in Parliament -

Singh: Maybe the Health Ministry was misled and my client did not know. The Government did proceed to investigate the matter.

Chee: The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health made comments and continued leading the people to donate to the NKF. You were the Prime Minister -

Singh: Objection.

Chee: Did you know the warning signals -

Singh: Objection.

Chee: These were raised in Parliament and whether he was sleeping like some of his colleagues -

Singh: That is not necessary and insulting -

Judge: Dr Chee, move on.

Singh: I want to remind Dr Chee of the injunction against repeating -

Chee: Do you agree if the salary is too much?

Judge: Disallowed.

Chee: Do you think that your Ministers spend too much -

Judge: Disallowed.

Chee: I put to you that the PAP is bent on greed and power.

Singh Objection.

Judge: Sustained.

Chee Refer to pg 9 of your AEIC. Is the information on the cost of labour of building HDB flats available?

Singh: Objection.

Judge Sustained.

Chee: Is information on the cost of material of building HDB flats available?

Singh: Objection.

Judge Sustained.

Chee: Do you agree that the HDB is operating in secrecy?

Singh: Objection.

Judge Sustained.

Tan Tai Wei  -  The Presumption of Irrelevance     Thu, 29 May 2008 8:06 pm
Why were Chee's questions judged "irrelevant"?

Because Judge and Singh had presumed that the Lees and PAP were innocent on those issues Chee tried to raise.

But Chee was questioning precisely their innocence on those matters of high public concerns.

Was it right for the Court to be, on those issues, prejudiced in favour of the Lees and PAP right from the start of the hearing?

In Chee's mind, those issues were crucial to the question of Lees' integrity and reputation - which was what the court hearing was about, in assessing the purported "damages".

So the court had assumed, even before hearing Chee out, that the Lees had that much a reputation, "damage" to which the Chees had to compensate. Therefore, any attempt by Chee to show possible grey areas in the assumed "reputation" was disallowed!
WOW!  -     Thu, 29 May 2008 8:14 pm
Looks like you have elephant memory to be able to recall every word exchanged. With that, I totally believe what you said about your conversations with Tunku Aziz and Peter Eigen.

I am not surprise about all happen in court. Very sad.
We have a hopeless court, a hopeless media here.
When can the people see the truth.

The fact that a person's integrity need to rely on a piece of paper is already one big joke.

When the history turn over this page, the world will get to see that the lees are making a mockery of Singapore
Announcement  -  Promotion    Thu, 29 May 2008 10:10 pm
This is to announce :

Aunty Ang and Uncle Singh will be promoted to Grade A Scale for using only 2 words in Lee's Court:

"Irrelevant" and "Sustained"

It goes to show - that you spent half your life studying, paying Uni fees to end up taught to say only these 2 words!

"Top" Talented Civil Servants??

Hahahha, this is great, you expose the type of legal system that lee create.
Question.  -  Coward.    Thu, 29 May 2008 10:51 pm
Dr.Chee I can't believe all the things you write..no wounder LKY said you are a liar.

How can LHL did not say a word and insulated from your questions. He is the greatest political leader in world...if salary is the yardstick of greatness.

How can I believe that he did not attempt to answer your questions. The ST reported that he remained cool and composed. He should prepared to answer "all" your question.

He is the Prime Minister who just happened that LKY is his father. How can you said his lawyer shielded him from your childish questions.

It is next to impossible to believe that LHL did not answer your question. You must be lying. You lair.

You should have written the truth (which I dream last night). You question LHL, the lawyer objected and the judge said "irrelevant". But the great leader PM LHL cut in every time and say: "your honour, I agree with your judgement that it is irrelevant, but let me proceed to ans his childish question. I will move him like all great leaders in history. I will convince him until he hug me and join my PAP party. Please let me answer his question head on".

Dr. Chee you liar, you did not report the truth...it is the truth bec. I saw the whole proceeding in my DREAM.

Well on the serious note, when LKY dies, this sissy LHL will have a hard time. DR. Chee pleasee do not give up.

Perhaps SDP and both Dr Chee and Ms Chee should take this case to the International Court of Justice as a neutral court since Singapore recognizes ICJ's authority and jurisdiction over legal matters.

The defendants seem to be fighting not only against a fomidable legal team, which you will have to pay for eventually, but a judge as well.

Where is the justice?
No Justice  -  Blinded Singaporeans    Thu, 29 May 2008 11:34 pm
Imagine that! Wanting the Prime Minister to make time to come to court to give evidence in his own lawsuit - lawsuit that he started?

"Ponteng" Parliament- later can even escape parliament w/o valid formal application?

Milling around outside the courtroom the entire day were a detail of 10 to 15 security guards assigned to protect the Prime Minister when he arrived in court.

Question: Who pays for their time? Obviously the taxpayers

What a bunch of hypocrsies!

Yet just look at some of our ignorant pp'le at PAP website - the STAsiaONe - all the GRC Kings, RCs are giving thier comments in favour of Papa Lee and Son- must be getting hefty bonuses for FY07/08.

It seems that the whole court is hammering on DR Chee.

I have run out of words.

In my heart, I only feel proud of Dr Chee, Ms Siok Chin and lawyer Ravi , but i pity yew and son.

I vow not to read Straits Times no more, and in turn educate my family not to watch local news on the local TV.

They can destroy Dr Chee but they can never take his passion, compassion, and love.

The court case is about the sinkaporean future and many generations to come. Well, people can bitch about DR Chee and friends , but they will realise this truth one day.

you can keep asking what has DR Chee done for you, you must also ask yourself whether you have given a chance to Dr Chee to prove it.

You can have all the money you want you want in your life, but if you are empty inside, you are just as worthless.

In sinkapore, you can starve one day even if you are double-rich.

I feel ashamed to be a local sinkaporean. I cry for the sins of the media people.

God and all deities help Dr Chee and Siok chin !

And Mrs Chee, many people know how you are going through, please be strong ....we love your children too....

From the kind of exchange going on in the court room. Has the PM really opened his mouth to say something? It looks like he is there for a show and the conversation is just between Chee, Singh and the Judge. The PM is not in control of his own lawsuit at all.
Standup10  -  Citizens' Right To Know    Fri, 30 May 2008 12:28 am
Sad that our fellow citizens are still in the dark...
Truth must prevail under any circumstances for the rule of law to apply to everyone.
Singaporeans will never get their facts right if any party in this dispute tries to evade answering questions pertaining to the disputable allegations which must be proven to be either baseless or factual.
This trial is in actual fact a time for the MM and PM to enlighten the people on NKF and PAP governance and to prove that the two entities are never parallel in any way;rather than to silence ground sentiments.
It should not be drawn to a personal defamation suit as no individuals were specifically cited. If there was any, then PAP should be the one to sue SDP and not just the MM and PM alone.
Afterall,as the Chinese saying goes: "Pure gold is never afraid of fire".
LKY Court  -  Adjournment today?    Fri, 30 May 2008 12:32 am
But will Aunty Ang today allow for adjournment since JBJ sir is unable to attend today from Johore?

Only LKY court can answer that?

When I was in Malaysia about 10 years ago, I witnessed the same situation in the trial of Anwar. I witnessed the injustice done to him. I was also taken aback at the extent of people's indifference to what was happening to the justice system. Now, we all know that how wrong the Malaysia's judiciary then was. People who believed that Anwar was politically finished was all proven wrong.

Definitely, one day will surely come when everybody knows that how much injustice has been done to Dr.Chee and SDP by the kangaroo courts in Singapore under Lees.

And I believe that one day will come within the next 15 years. To be more accurate, it will come after the next election.

Dr.Chee and SDP,

I am proud of you. I support your fight for democracy, human right and freedom. You all are my heros. I salute your courage and strong will.
Show no mercy-poor Singaporean  -  Give them back a dose of their medicine    Fri, 30 May 2008 12:51 am

This case concerns the future of singapore, and the future of our local generations to come.
