The Singapore Democratic Party's logo was among three political party symbols on display at the 100 Icons Exhibition at National Library Building last week.

Organised by The Design Society, the exhibition featured a presentation of logos, symbols, trademarks and icons from various organisations that are significant to Singapore’s social history and visual culture. Among them were logos from Government bodies like the People's Association and GLCs such as SIA.

Other than presenting the 100 logos, the exhibition also featured past logos for the purpose of showing how these symbols have evolved since their incorporation. Their respective titles and credits were also made available for the audience. The Design Society is a Singapore-based, non-profit organisation that promotes the standard of visual designs.

The SDP unveiled its emblem on 19 Oct 1980: the Arrow representing political progress and Circle symbolizing unity among the country's ethnic groups. The colour red signifies courage and determination.

The exhibition concluded on 29 January 2009.

    * Inroduction~ get your grassroots people to know the candidates well for example asking question, shaking hands
    * Increase the nunmbers of Grassroots & committees organizer from different constituents to reach out VOTERS
    * Unite the opposition cause, looking for common grounds, focus on policies for example (Debts, Spending and Taxes)

  • compassion republican - Democracy is not an answer to everything
    Hello,

Democracy is not an answer to everything

Question: Singapore could deliever eonomical growth without Democracy, the idea of Decmocracy is worthless
Countries that had embrace Democracy is pathetically ( very poor ) South American, India and Philipines

    Answer: What is Democracy?
What is happiness? Do you measure happiness by the assets you own, high earner, status in soceity.
These days Singaporean tends to Bussiness-ization their thoughts on every issue, every solution
What is Democracy? Do you measure Democracy by GDP? Our PM said lets us focus on GNP from now onwards. Why the change of tune? B'cos they are finding it hard to attain Double-Digit Growth
2% is achieveable, anything higher would be consider a blessing

Democracy has many components. To have a heatlhy and educated workforce. You need basic human rights. The rights to food, the right to clean water, the right to shetler, the right to work, the right to education, FDI, ...etc
Other factors are Good governance, zero tolerance on courrption, invesment in education, science research & development..etc

To measure a country that is poor by GDP standard is shallow.
To measure a country Democracy (solely on Election) while ignoring the rest of the components is plain shallow

For exmaple Blog TV on S'pore population birthrates low by blaming Women from Venus Men from Mars is very shallow.
The host kept avoiding those issue high cost of living, stress on education, society demand both couples need to work, childcare centres, having little time to spend with kids, diffcult in taking leaves...etc all these are link to Govt. policies
