Singapore Democrats
The Singapore Democratic Party's logo was among three political party symbols on display at the 100 Icons Exhibition at National Library Building last week.
Organised by The Design Society, the exhibition featured a presentation of logos, symbols, trademarks and icons from various organisations that are significant to Singapore’s social history and visual culture. Among them were logos from Government bodies like the People's Association and GLCs such as SIA.
Other than presenting the 100 logos, the exhibition also featured past logos for the purpose of showing how these symbols have evolved since their incorporation. Their respective titles and credits were also made available for the audience. The Design Society is a Singapore-based, non-profit organisation that promotes the standard of visual designs.
The SDP unveiled its emblem on 19 Oct 1980: the Arrow representing political progress and Circle symbolizing unity among the country's ethnic groups. The colour red signifies courage and determination.
The exhibition concluded on 29 January 2009.
