Sony Corp. announced Thursday that it will close by March a Singaporean factory that manufactures parts for Blu-ray Disc recorders.

Production of optical pickup lenses will be shifted to China, and power source parts will be made at another Singaporean plant, where about 30 employees will be transferred. The other 100 workers will be let go.

The closure is part of Sony's global restructuring plans to reduce manufacturing operations from 57 sites in December 2008 to 45 by the end of May 2010.

Awesome Words

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add Within the Limits of the Law, because law is often but the tyrants' will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.
