For goodness sakes, Mr Steven. is it wrong for us to cross-examine the 'findings'? Are we going to be the type of people that will believe everything we hear? We will believe only if it is proven beyond reasonable doubt that the report is 100% true. We cannot settle for it being any lesser thn that. We are given brains to think. So use it. All we want is for any doubts to be cleared but so far, the reports raised more doubts than answer them. And we keep hearing that he is still in Singapore. Where's the evidence for that claim? until all our doubts are cleared, we can't help but think there are truths being hidden and there is more than meets the eye

my own belief is that mas is dead and his family was told and were paid off to keep their mouth shut about his death. as long as they are quiet, they get their money. this would explain why his family has not once said a single word.

Credits to the committee for its effort in conducting an inquiry into the escape of suspected terrorist Mr Mas Selamat.
BUT the findings just add on to the list of question as to how Mas Selamat escape.The committee should be answerable to the public BECAUSE Mas Selamat is a threat to National Security as reported by the goverment.
I believe it is not the intention of SDP n Comrade CSJ to discredit COI effort and findings.I believe COI also had its own difficulty in carrying out its investigation.

i think the comments are fair. The report does raise more questions than answers. Wong Kan Seng should acknowledge that this is his oversight and take full responsibility for the escape and tender his resignation. His position is fast becoming untenable.

Mr Steven2, please don't pull wool over our eyes......the significant difference between S'pore (and Malaysia) AND UK and USA is that we solely have the Internal Security Act which empowers the PAP Govt to detain anyone suspected to be a subversive (includes political dissidents) INDEFINITELY (eg Mr Chia Thye Poh).
The M16 of UK as well as the CIA/FBI of USA do not have such draconian "legal" powers. They still use open trials at their Courts for even terrorists and other subversives (but never political dissidents!). SDP is not advocating the closure of ISD per se but the abolition of the IS Act which is principally about empowering the PAP Govt to detain anyone they deemed an enemy of the State (read "their enemy" like Mr Francis Seow) INDEFINITELY. Yes they can lock you up and throw away the key! Just ask Mr Chia Thye Poh a former PAP MP turned opposition if you don't believe me.Yes indeed, the ISAct is easily subject to misuse and abuse by those empowered with it....not unlike the detention of the 5 Hindraf Indians (including a duly elected MP) up north.

It is a total security system failure that result the escape. It is common that human does error and the security system need to build with that consideration.

How much budget is given to build and opearte such simply system? Isn't the minister aware of how much is budget is allocated? What type of security is build at the centre. If he is aware, that he need to take full responsibility, if not, he is simply not interested .

Give Mr WKS a break. His job is too hard and he is not paid to match the job he does.

Who in the right mind would believe a "high security" prison is furnisned with such a toilet.This is a blatant lie as it looks more like a common toilet for Police officers in the academy!

If it is indeed the toilet fit for terrorist detainees, then its inappropriateness speaks volume of our Police and Home Security's inefficiency.

The Minister and ISD top personnel should take full responsibilities for such an inexcusable oversight.

I don't think the detention centre is a prison per se. Is it really a maximum security facility as suggested?

Going by past reports and official statements released by the MHA, the people charged and incarcerated under ISD are dangerous and a serious threat to national security.

In fact, so serious is this threat to national security that these men are not even given trials and are simply imprisoned at the minister's leisure.

So it stands to reason that given the nature of these detainees, the facilities used to contain them are no less than maximum security.

What heads Steven? Director ISD has been given full support to carry on his term. In normal Singapore style, the lower ranking officers and staff face disciplinary action. It's really a joke If this was anywhere else in the world, heads would really role and 'people' would be sacked.

We can come out with hundreds of theories on how he escaped or whether he is dead. But the story released yesterday was the dumbest ever and it furiated me. It's not too dificult to find someone who escaped, nevertheless someone with a limp. And a camera not recording and not being monitered is a sad and pathetic excuse to Singaporeans. Many will accept the story and life will still go on. Others will question and there will be coffee shop talk everywhere.

Even opposition members were too afraid to question and expand on other possibilities. I think its no point we talk such about issues that cannot be changed but all I can do is keep laughing at how hilarious this story is.

To prevent familiarty, it's standard practice that staff don't share anything with detainees, let alone a toilet with two urinals.

Steven 2, please do not glorify the ISD by comparing them to real law enforcement and security agencies like the FBI and MI5.

The FBI and MI5 are responsible for national security in their respective home countries. You know what 'national security' means? It refers to the collective security and welfare of an entire nation. FBI and MI5 actually investigate and handle terrorist threats that may affect the lives of thousands of citizens.

Our ISD on the other hand is no more than the private security force of the Familee. They are not interested in our 'national security', but 'familee security'. What is good for the Familee may not be good for Singapore.

Besides being super efficient in bullying opposition politicians who got on the wrong side of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, what else have they done for the collective interests of Singapore? Even the tip off about the plan to blow up one of our MRT stations was handed to them on a platter by the CIA!

So tell me, am I justified in saying that the ISD are the private guards of the Familee? Don't glorify them by comparing them to the FBI and MI5. That's like comparing oranges and apples because they have completely different functions.

By the way, I think the SDP is calling for the abolishment of the ISA which is separate from the ISD. The Internal Security Act has been grossly misinterpreted by the PAP and their private soldiers, and should at least be amended to prevent further abuses.
