Singapore Democrats

The Singapore Democrats will pay a visit to residents of Blk 686B, Drive 73 at Woodlands this evening. Residents in the block were subjected to a gruesome ordeal when a Sembawang Town Council worker had dumped a dead body into the water tank atop the block's rooftop.

Singaporeans were shocked to learn of the Town Council Management's negligence. A team of SDP members will visit the block with a medical doctor in tow to see if any of the residents require any assistance.

If someone was up to mischief, or worse, out to cause mayhem, the enitire block of residents could have been in serious danger.

The residents are enraged primarily because the Town Council did not inform the them to stop using the water until half-a-day later. In the meantime many had continued to use the contaminated water.

To add insult to injury, the Town Council has offered the households a $10 rebate voucher for their next PUBl bill. Such a callous attitude makes a mockery of the concerns of the residents. No one should have to go through what they did, that is, having to use water that contained elements from a decomposing body.

The SDP will look into the possibility of helping the residents with legal remedies if the need arises.

Reports have also surfaced that workers were seen entertaining women on the rooftop. Such a lackadaisical attitude on the part of the PAP MPs in handling such a serious matter is inexcusable.

The SDP members will meet and talk with the residents during the visit to find out what the party can do do help. We will speak up on their behalf and help them hold those responsible to account. Many of the residents there have started a petition to call on the Town Council Management to step down.

We will do what we can can to support the residents of Blk 686B and offer whatever services we can to help ease the trauma.

We will also be on hand to help them demand greater security measures. Transparency about how these measures are put in place will also be discussed and canvassed with the residents.

The SDP contested in the GRC in GE 2011.

Ten Dollar Voucher on PUB bill? "Callous" indeed!

Reminds me of this scene in Dicken's "Tale of Two Cities" enacted by Hollywood.

The rich man's carriage had sped through the poor crowded village's narrow footpath where many children had overflowed onto, and ran over a child. The mother clutched the dead child against her bony chest screeching in grief.

That man just threw a coin onto the ground, whilst grumbling about mothers allowing their wards to block the pathway.

Her grief overtaken by hunger, the woman scrambled into the dust to get the coin.

That's what i say a real people political party who care for the residents at home. If only SDP is the the one in charge of this GRC , then the citizens need not be insulted with more red-tapes from PAP.

In the mean time the Singapore Tanjong Pagar MP LKY is touring the Japanese homes and Beijing homes to see to their needs. What a sick joke for Singaporeans at home here.
  • Stanley - $10 to cover their mouth or to cover the truth?
''The Town Council has wilfully attempted to conceal the truth of a dead maid found in the tank by issuing writing notices to the residents that a maintenance work will be carried out at the block but the reason for water contamination was not disclosed.
The Town Council is the arm through which the MP serve the town. When his subordinates resort to cheating and non-disclosure of such matters what is this MP doing? Is he trying to cover up for them?
Why did PUB not take upon themselves the responsibility to inform the residens and public of the contaminations yet push it to the Town council to do it?''

    Dear SDP
This morning ST reported that the water tank is going to be replaced.
I think this is a positive action from the authority and should be applauded. Whatever their shortfall, the important thing is that they have to rectify the situation and when they have done so, we should move on.
To visit the resident of blk 686B and render any service or advice is a good way to show the residents that although SDP did not win the GRC,
we will be there if the need arise and also to make our presence felt
all the way till the next GE in 2016.
Please go all out to help the residence but not just to score points with Pap. Let the residence decide and just be sincere with your concern.
I for one will oppose the Pap if their policies are not good for Singaporean but I will acknowledge and congratulate them if their policies
    Are beneficial to Singaporean.
It is still too early to judge them. Let us be fair and give them a chance.
    Your truly
    SDP supporter.

PAP Town council of Sembawang GRC has lost all the trust with all the residents in Sembawang GRC. How can you lie to the residents saying it is a routine cleaning when a dead body was found. They inform the residents of it also late. One hour later. Many have drank the water and many have used the water already. This is a ripe moment for Team SDP Sembawang to be there for the residents. To gain their trust for the election 2016. We have not seen Kwah boon wan, Hawazi, Allen Lee and the other Chinese new MP there at all. Only the new Indian MP. Since the rest are not interested to even meeting with the effected residents, they can say goodbye to their post in 2016. People will remember this incident. They lost our trust already and a mere $10 cannot shut the mouth of the residents you know. SDP should start to work the grounds from this. All the areas must be cover and all the loopholes must be make known to all the residents of Sembawang GRC that the PAP cannot run a town council properly.

Another issue in Sembawang GRC would be the rats. Please look into it. It is really bad in the Marsiling ward under Hawazi. Especially around the areas of the Marsiling market, blk 1 to 4 and around blk 131 coffeeshops. Big ones I should say. They will come out from the drains at night and start to roams around the areas. There are no stray cats around these areas. Stray cats helped to keep the rats at bay.

Awesome Words

What was everybody's business in the end proved to be nobody's business. Each one looked to the other to take the lead, and the aggressors got away with it.
