Chee to speak at conference in Brisbane

Dr Chee Soon Juan will be one of the keynote speakers at the Activating Human Rights and Diversity Conference in Byron Bay, Australia, 1-4 July 2003 (http://www.scu.edu.au/research/clpc/human_rights/index.html).

Organised by the South Cross University in Australia, the international conference brings together activists, scholars, non-government organisations, and health care and community workers who represent a diversity of viewpoints. The conference aims to seek local and global responses to the essential need for justice in the world today.

According to the organizers, the main focus of the conference will be to invite participants to exchange ideas and experiences about human rights, questions of diversity and their implications across different fields. The conference also affirms an interdisciplinary and activist approach to challenge the theory and practice of human rights.

Dr Chee will speak on Human rights: Dirty words in Singapore.
