Registration opens for youth conference

Hello again young Singaporeans!

In case you didn’t see our previous announcements, the Singapore Democrats (yup, those SDP people that keep hounding those PAP people about giving Singaporeans back their rights) are organizing a groundbreaking youth conference in Singapore.

So if you are one of those, and we know there are plenty of you, who want to discuss and participate with youths from all over the world on the subject of democracy, then this is one heck of a conference you will not want to miss! Below are details of the conference:

Conference title: An International Youth Conference for Democracy
Date: 26 July 2003 (Saturday)
Time: 8:30 am to 6:00 pm
Place: Carlton Hotel, Esplanade Room
Attire: Smart casual
Admission: Free

We have young MPs, activists and student leaders from 10 countries from all over Asia, Europe and the US coming here to speak. They will talk about their roles in promoting democracy in their own countries, why young people should be concerned about human rights, and what can be done to foster international youth cooperation in democracy-building.

The sessions (plenary and smaller-group) are organized to allow maximum participation from you, the audience. It’s a great opportunity for youths to show that they care about this country’s political future and that they don’t have to shut up just because the PAP tells them to. That’s right, young Singaporeans can hold their own when it comes to politics, thank you very much.

The police have (finally) given the permit for the conference and Young Democrats are out in full force distributing flyers and letting everyone know of the big pow-wow at 76 Bras Basah Road. So pass the word around, will you? The Council for Asian Liberals and Democrats (www.cald.org) and the Alliance for Reform and Democracy in Asia (www.asiademocracy.org) are helping to organise the conference.

Because seats are limited, we encourage you to register early. All you need to do is to email your name and tell us whether you’re a student, employee, member of a particular organisation, etc. to sdp2000@pacific.net.sg or speakup@singaporedemocrat.org.

Please note that although this is a youth conference, we are not limiting the attendance to young people. Those on the higher side of the age continuum are also welcome.

But do you know what the best part about all this is? We’ve also invited the Young PAP.
