While the courts’ have relented and argeed for Dr Chee to call Messrs Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong to the stand for cross-examination, CJ Yong Pung How has not answered the SDP leader’s queries about the Registrar’s handling of the requests made by Messrs Lee and Goh for the hearing dates to be re-scheduled. Below is the second letter Dr Chee has written to the Chief Justice.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for referring my letter dated 17 September 2004 to the Registrar.
I would like to point out that you have not addressed my concern about the courts’ handling of the requests made by the plaintiffs and myself for the re-scheduling of the hearing dates.
While the Registrar agreed to bring forward the hearing to dates picked by Messrs Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong – and, worse, to have the session to confirm the new dates take place in my absence – he flatly refused to entertain my request for a postponement. The fact that the plaintiffs subsequently withdrew their request is academic.
Given this latest revelation, and the fact that the courts have denied me legal representation and a trial to defend myself in the present matters, you will agree I have much cause for concern as to the ability of the system to render justice in my case.
I have explicitly asked you to address this very disturbing question in my previous letter and I hope that you will do so as quickly as you can.
