Call for youths to write essay on democracy

If you have an idea on how to promote democracy in Singapore or the world, why not write an essay and send it to the Youth Movement for Democracy (YMD) Essay Contest? The organization will publish the best of the lot and highlight it in future YMD events.

The essays, to be between 500 and 1500 words, must be written in English and contributed by authors born after 1975. The essay must be submitted by December 1, 2005 midnight Singapore time.

The topic: “What do you see as the biggest challenge to democracy in your world, and what can the youth movement do about it?” With this exercise, you can now be part of the voice of the global youth movement. It also serves as a testing ground for your ideas and is a great way to contribute to the advancement of democracy.

If you are not interested in writing a full-length article but have ideas on how we can promote democracy in Singapore, send them to the Young Democrats. We are submitting an article on promoting youth activism in Singapore and would like to hear from you.
