Dear Dr. Chee Soon Juan,
I am writing to you to express my solidarity with you in your vision of a more democratic Singapore. In the summer of 2001, I briefly visited Singapore and I was struck by the beauty of both the landscape and the people of your country. I looked into your situation through the help of Amnesty International, and have particular interest because I have been to Singapore and thought of it so highly. Your work, courage, and determination is admirable. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. You are not alone in your efforts.

Dear Dr Chee, Mr Gandhi and Mr Yap,
I know you will not be able to read this message from me yet, but I hope someone will send you my best wishes and my prayers. Three courageous men, three men to inspire those of us who only place our heads in the sand.
I have bought Dr Chee’s book and will be buying more as gifts. You all are in God’s Divine Grace and Light. May the truth be with us always!

Dear Dr Chee Soon Juan,
I am writing to you today to express my gratitude that you are speaking out in the name of human rights in Singapore. While I am not from Singapore, I like you wish for a day when all people have freedom of speech and other basic human rights.
You are a brave man, and I know that one day, in solidarity with other human rights activists around the world, we will succeed. Again, thank you for being so selfless and courageous. We in Canada have you in our hearts. All the best.

Hello SDP,
I admire Dr Chee’s courage. This is the right way to deal with the Lee family. The other Opp party might criticize Dr. Chee’s approach but let me tell you, they do not have Dr Chee’s and SDP’s guts to stand up against the Lees. When LKY dies Dr Chee will rise. Keep it up.

Dear SDP,
I think it is debatable if Dr. Chee is using the right methods or even has the right aim (a liberal democracy) but it is definitely wrong to say that he is egoistical. Dr. Chee gives up everything for what he believes. He is willing to fight for a better future for Singapore. At the present time, there is not even the indication that he could gain from what he is doing. Even more so, he has lost everything, his house, his academic career, his freedom, all for his cause.
Another thought, I think Singapore is such an advanced country, I believe it could work well with a fair democracy with freedom of speech. I think now is the right time to liberalize the country more, because there cannot be a perfect rule by experts. If these experts are not checked, then Singapore’s survival cannot be guaranteed. I also believe that in the information age, freedom of information and freedom of speech are essential for maintaining success (unless of course, Singapore prefers to remain a proxy for foreign corporations).

Dear Dr Chee,
I am very sorry to hear that the S’pore courts jailed you for failing to pay a fine of $5,000.00. I can’t understand why people can be that cruel. You are already bankruptcy, can’t even afford to support your wife and three children (your children are future S’pore national service man, defending the country). Off course has no money to pay the fine. Anyway not to worry, these people will be punished by God because they are making money from the fine. Disgusting! Fighting for fairness.

Hi,
I am a 15-year old student that has just came upon your website. After reading on your website, I believe that I am not alone in doubting PAP’s actions in running this country. This website has shown me evidence that can prove that PAP does not show concern for people in the lower income group. Personally I am not from a high income group, my family is making just enough to make ends meet. This Website is truly eye-opener. Chee Soon Juan also has the courage to stand up for what he believes in and is not afraid to face the unreasonable consequences set by a tyranny government.
You have my support and faith in making a better Singapore with more serious talk on helping people of the lower income, rather than help those who are already doing very well. I hope the music and arts scene will not be left out as well when Singapore has brilliant government such as Chee Soon Juan who will definitely do a better job then the current government.

Take heart my brother, its only 5 weeks. Time is on our side, logic is on our side, the old man will die,….and most of all,… Singaporeans will be on our side. God bless you and take care of your most respected self.

Dear Dr Chee,
Today, human rights day, I was part of a group in Canada that wrote letters to governments about people like you. We wrote to demand freedom of speech. Please be encouraged that your situation is public and people will not stand for Singapore’s attitude.
