Freedom Film Festival, Malaysia’s only human rights film festival, will make its debut in Johor Bahru from 28 – 30 September 2007.
Among the Singaporean works to be featured is Royston Tan’s short film 15, the precursor to his feature film debut of the same title.
The short film was first screened at the Singapore International Film Festival in 2002 but subsequent applications for public screenings has since been denied by the censors.
Other notables to watch include Royston’s Cut!, Martyn See’s Speakers Cornered, Asia Witness Productions’ I Love Malaya and other stories marking the often treacherous terrain of activist cinema.
All screenings in Johor Bahru will be held the JOTIC auditorium located on No. 2, Jalan Ayer Molek, a short ride from the causeway
