Dear SDP members,
As a Buddhist, I salute and applaud your efforts to protest against the junta’s senseless killing of innocent civilians.
I have been to Myanmar several times on humanitarian mission and also have many friends there. My heart aches for Myanmar when I saw the pictures of the massacres posted on your website. It is such a beautiful country, why must this happen?
The junta has no role at all in ruling the country, not in the past, not now and not in the future. Whether Myanmar can be governed as a centralized state or a federation can only be sorted out in the future. PM Lee’s comments is simply a facade to deflect international criticism.
I urged the SDP to collect real strong proof of Singapore’s sale of weapons to the military regime and pass it to the international media.
Please also write to the International Court of Justice to indict General Than Shwe for war crimes against humanity.
Any dealings with this murderous regime is simply unacceptable. The money we have poured in is not going to the very people who needs it and is in fact fattening the pockets of the Generals.
Thank you for standing up and fighting against the despotic regime in Singapore too. Though I may not be able to join you in person, I will always support you in spirit.
