Dear Sirs,

I hope this letter finds you well.

I would like to invite you and other opposition party and civil society leaders to speak at a public forum. Entitled “Reform of the Election System in Singapore” we hope to use the occasion to discuss what can be done to remedy the deficiencies of our electoral process.

As you know, a genuinely free and fair election system benefits not just the opposition but also, and more important, the people whom we serve.

I would like to propose 13 January 2008, Sunday, for the forum. If you find the date inconvenient, please suggest an alternative and I will try to coordinate with the other invitees to find a mutually convenient date for all.

In the meantime we will book a venue for the meeting and will inform you of the details as soon as they become available.

I hope that you will respond favourably to this invitation and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Chee Soon Juan
Secretary-General
Singapore Democratic Party
