You can now receive “live” updates about our Tak Boleh Tahan! event from Toa Payoh Central through your computer or mobile phone. The updates will be done throughout the day beginning at around 11 am.
We’ll do this in two ways. The first is via short video clips that we’ll upload on YouTube. We’ll attempt to do this hourly. The other way is to read the SMS messages posted by the organisers and helpers at the scene.
You can do this by:
1. Logging on to this website and reading the up-dates that will appear like the test messages you see on the right. You may need to click of the Refresh button on your browser periodically to see new updates.
or
2. Signing up with Twitter and receiving updates via SMS messages on your cellphone. Twitter provides a microblogging service where users can update their blogs via SMS messages (a microblog is just a blog with very short posts).
Users may also “Follow” blogs other than their own as well as receive updates via their cellphones. If you are new to Twitter, do the following:
Step 1: Register a free Twitter account at http://twitter.com.
Step 2: Sign in and setup your phone by going to Settings. Under the Devices tab, enter your mobile phone number. Check on the box that says: “It’s okay for Twitter to send txt messages…” and click Save.
Step 3: You will then be instructed to activate your number by SMSing Twitter a code that will be given to you. Once this is successful, Twitter will acknowledge it via SMS.
Step 4: You can then “follow” SDP’s Twitter blog by searching for “yourSDP” and then clicking on the Follow button. Set Device Updates to “On” for SMS updates.
Step 5: Once done, you should be able to follow our news via SMS messages on your phone.
Step 6: Set Device Updates to “Off” if you wish to stop receiving SMS updates.
If you already have a Twitter account, skip Steps 1-3.
