Despite occasional drizzles, the Tak Boleh Tahan! campaign at Toa Payoh Central went on as planned with SDP members and supporters taking part with much enthusiasm and dedication.
At one stage, a man who had contested three general elections under a different opposition party, volunteered to put on the Tak Boleh Tahan! t-shirt and readily distributed the flyers to passers-by. According to him, SDP is the party that gels with Singaporeans who are burdened with the high cost of living, low wages and intense competition from Third World workers.
A bystander observed: “It’s good to see SDP members and other activists continuing with this kind of campaign in spite of its two prominent leaders in jail…
“The members are dedicated, with strong conviction to carry on the struggle to bring change in authoritarian Singapore,” noted the observer.
After more than three-hours, the campaign ended at around 12.30 pm.
Following today’s campaign, the SDP plans to hold more such events to highlight the reality of living under the greedy, exploitative and dictatorial PAP.
