As the activists walk into court on Thursday, we do it with our heads held high and our spirits uplifted from the knowledge that we are fighting because we believe that right makes might, not the other way around.

The trial will last for a little more than two weeks during which time many of us have to take unpaid leave and time-off to face trial. Among those prosecuted are parents who have to make alternative arrangements for child care and other domestic matters.

Remember, this fight is not just those who face prosecution. It is a fight that all who wish to see democracy and freedom in Singapore must undertake. We will get to our destination much quicker if we spread out the burden and if each and everyone does his/her part.
