The Singapore government announced today that it plans to invest S$1.1 billion (RM2.5 billion) on new information and communication tenders in this fiscal year.

This announcement was made today by Ronnie Tay, chief executive officer of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), the authority said in a statement.

IDA said this was consistent with past years’ procurement trends, with the actual procurement in 2009 being S$1.12 billion.

It said information and communication companies could look forward to about 350 new information and communication tenders with a total projected worth of S$1.1 billion to be called by the various city-state’s ministries and government agencies.

Some of these projects include the re-development of the e-citizen portal, the central picture archiving communications system, biometrics screening capability system and an electronic selection and acquisition system to streamline and improve the selection and acquisition process of library materials.
