A Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Apache AH-64 Longbow attack helicopter had to make a crash landing at an open field near the residential area of Woodlands here Thursday.
In a brief statement, the republic’s Defence Ministry said the helicopter landed between Woodlands Ave 12 and Woodlands Dr 75 at about 3.30pm.
The ministry said there had been no damage to civilian property or injury to personnel reported, adding that an investigation was ongoing.
The helicopter, which had broken into two, was seen lying on the grassy field with its tail flung several metres away.
The helicopter which can carry missiles and rockets is believed to be from the Sembawang Air Base which is home to all of the RSAF’s rotary-wing squadrons.
Apart from the Apache, other aircraft based there are Super Puma and Chinook helicopters.
