YOUth as Singaporean

International Day of Youth is celebrated on 12 August every year to recognize the potential of youth, to celebrate their achievements, and plan for ways to better engage young people to successfully take action in the development of their societies. The theme that the SDP has come up for this year is “YOUth as Singaporean”.

The Young Democrats of the SDP will commemorate this occasion in Singapore with an event entitled “YOUth as Singaporean”.

In support of civil liberties in our country and to celebrate this day, the SDP will organise an online facebook photo caption contest called “YOUTHSful Moments” that will last from 12 Jul to 12 Aug 2011. Yes, it’s starting today!

Being a form of freedom of expression through photography, this contest is a creative and engaging way to explore the expectations of youths in our country, as well as to celebrate their achievements in Singapore.

All you need to do is “Like Us” here first, then share a photograph which you think is related to this year’s chosen theme on our wall, and write a short caption for it. The photo caption can be in any English, Chinese, Malay or Tamil.

The three entries with the most number of “Likes” will walk away with attractive prizes. So get as many friends to “Like” your photo and win! Results will be announced on 15 Aug 11. (Tip: To get more “Likes”, tag your photo to all your friends, get them to “Join Us” and “Like” your photo.)

1st prize: $75 gift voucher from Kinokuniya Bookstore
2nd prize: $50 gift voucher from Kinokuniya Bookstore
3rd prize: $30 gift voucher from Kinokuniya Bookstore

“This contest is a creative and engaging way to explore the expectations of youths in our country as well as to celebrate their achievements in Singapore,” says Young Democrat Ms Solange Chee, coordinator of the activity.
