Singapore Democrats
This Sunday will see a very unusual event taking place at the Old School Sinema. It’s not just that the Singapore Democrats are screening The Blue Mansion as part of our fund-raising efforts.
Rather it is that the Singapore’s very own celebrities will be present at the event to do their part for the cause of democracy in our country. One of them is Mr Glen Goei, the directory of the movie. Mr Goei will take the stage following the screening to field questions from the audience.
Mr Goei is one of Singapore’s leading film and theatre directors. He was the Artistic Director of Mu-Lan Arts, the first Asian theatre company to be established in the United Kingdom, from 1990 to 1998. He is currently the Associate Artistic Director of the Singaporean theatre company, W!ld Rice.
On of his films, Forever Fever, released in 1998, was distributed in the US and UK by Miramax Films. He subsequently signed a three-picture deal with the company.
In 1994, he received the National Youth Award for his contribution to the Arts from then prime minister Goh Chok Tong.
Also present will be The Blue Mansion’s leading actors Mr Lim Kay Siu and Ms Neo Swee Lin. (Watch video here)
The SDP is grateful for the the support of our celebrities in this endeavour. It is a recognition that our message of building a democratic and compassionate Singapore is winning the hearts of our people.
