Singapore Democrats
The Chairman and members of the Singapore Democratic Party extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Dr Lim Hock Siew who passed away on 4 June 2012. The SDP is greatly saddened by the demise of Dr Lim who stood tall among his peers as he fought for a more compassionate and caring Singapore in the 1950s and 60s.
He was then cruelly locked up for his beliefs in 1963 under Operation Coldstore by the Internal Security Department. His persecutors were not able to conquer Dr Lim’s spirit, however, and released him without condition after 19 years of imprisonment without trial.
The SDP honoured Dr Lim at our National Day Dinner in 2011 by presenting him an artwork of his likeness. Singapore has lost a truly honourable and loyal son. We mourn the loss and honour the memory of this great man.
