A party that Singaporeans are looking for

Singapore Democrats

Dear friends,

If you’ve been following us, you’ll know that right after Polling Day on 7 May 2011 we went straight back to work. We’ve been coming up with alternative policies, campaigning on the ground, intensifying our online communications, etc. $CUT$

We do this because we aspire to be the party that all of you want us to be – a competent, constructive and compassionate party that is able to articulate your concerns and aspirations, and take them with us into Parliament in 2016.

We look forward to becoming the alternative ruling party that will give Singaporeans a real choice at the polls.

In order to do that, we know we have to tell the electorate what we stand for and what they can expect from the SDP if they vote us into Parliament.

This is why we put in so much effort into our policy papers. Our team of medical professionals drew up the National Healthcare Plan in which we spell out how we can make our healthcare system universal, affordable and sustainable.

Our housing panel published Housing A Nation and introduced, among other measures, the Non-Open Market scheme to make public housing in Singapore affordable for everyone.

Our Policy Unit is working on more papers in the coming months. We’re going to focus on population and immigration, education, the economy and the arts.

We envision a Singapore where our people live in a gracious, open and diverse society, where a democratic government is responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people, and where people come before profits.

To achieve our vision, we need you. We can only get to where we want to go if you walk with us.

If you believe in what we are doing, then help us develop, help us become more effective. Democratic parties are but empty shells without the support of the people.

On 25 November 2012 (Sunday), we’re having a food-fair called the Kampung Kook-off to raise funds for the work that we do. Tickets are available at $32. Don’t just buy one, bring your family, tell your friends, drag along a colleague. It’ll be an afternoon of great food and fun. The company is pretty decent too.

For more information and to purchase tickets, please click here.

So come, support us. Support the party that looks out for you.
