I am a local citizen living at Blk 676, Hougang Ave 8, since 2000, zoned as part of the AMK GRC led by our Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Hsien Loong himself.
For the last 1 and 1/2 years, since Jun 2011, a Malay family, parents & two young boys, have been living in common sight in front of lift landing A. It seems that no one from the AMK Town Council was aware after several months of their obvious illegal “residency”.
I wrote in to inform them on 10/10/11. Some female officer claimed to look into the matter and nothing happened. I told her that I shall write to the media if this eyesore wasn’t resolved. The situation was ignored and I wrote in to the PM himself on 10/07/12. Nothing significant happened, either.
As I understand the parents moved around from block to block in the area to avoid detection and complaints. They are now back since the last two days. The two boys are living in a flat just above the lift landing on the 2nd storey of the same block, and I was told that the unit is owned by the parents, maybe even together with relatives.
I am both shocked and surprised that this is happening in modern day Singapore with two by-elections, one having been taking place within stone’s throw in Hougang SMC on 27/05/12 and another current one happening at Punggol East SMC on 26/01/13. What is wrong with this picture?
