Singapore Democrats
Week-in, week-out, dedicated members and volunteers of the SDP are out along the corridors and in the void-decks listening to fellow citizens and spreading the message: SDP is your voice in Parliament.$CUT$
Encouragingly, we’re seeing residents opening their doors and receiving our message with smiles in increasing numbers.
Younger Singaporeans are especially supportive with many expressing the view that the country needs a strong opposition in Parliament. This is, perhaps, unsurprising as it is the younger generation who are more inclined to turn to the Internet for the news and information.
When a middle-aged female resident expressed reservations about voting for the opposition, we explained that the reason why Singaporeans are living such a stressful lifestyle is because of the PAP’s uncaring policies.
We also assured her that the SDP will take care of the constituency’s Town Council in a transparent and competent manner. We referred her to our Town Council Management Plan which we are launching this Saturday. (See here for details).
We have also been continuing with our food distribution programme to needy residents. It is difficult to understand how there are still so many Singaporeans living in impoverished conditions in a system where cabinet ministers pay themselves the highest salaries in the world.
There is a need to bring balance and justice to our economic system, and the Singapore Democrats are determined to do that.
We have a clear message for Singaporeans and we have developed a set of sound, alternative policies that emphasise, first and foremost, the well-being of Singaporeans and make life more meaningful and less stressful for us all.
But we cannot do it alone, we need your support. Come and join the growing army of members and volunteers who are helping us spread this message of change.
As much as we have done, there are still many residents who have yet to hear of the SDP’s message. And because the PAP controls the newspaper and broadcast stations, we have a huge mountain ahead of us to climb.
But we are not deterred. With your help, we can overcome the obstacle. To do this, we need to get out there and get the word to everyone in our constituencies. Come, help and be part of history in the making.
Remember: Democracy cannot be wished for, it must be fought for.
