A ground-breaking ceremony for another Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in Hai Phong was held on January 13th with the attendance of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and visiting Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The event will take place amid the Singaporean Prime Minister’s official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart.

This is the third time that the Singaporean Prime Minister will have visited Vietnam.  His two last visits were in 2000 and 2004.

Apart from attending the ground-breaking ceremony, this visit is expected to help promote investment, trade, and economic cooperation between the two nations.

Under the schedule, the two sides will discuss Vietnam’s proposals to add urban management and planning to the Vietnam-Singapore Framework Agreement signed in 2005.  Discussions to set up direct flights between Singapore and central Vietnam and to find out measures that will link Vietnam to other export markets will also take place.
