As the General Elections loom closer we, the members of the Young Democrats, hereby declare and re-affirm our commitment and dedication to the principles and ideals of the Singapore Democratic Party.

As we get closer to the time when every Singaporean Citizen can exercise their constitutional right to cast his or her vote to determine the direction of the Nation for the next five years, we are ever mindful of the pressing need for improvements in our political system.

We firmly believe that our political system must observe the basic principles of a truly open and democratic society such as a pluralistic media landscape, equality before the law, and free and fair elections.

This is the direction our Nation needs to take if it going to face the challenges in the 21st Century without which her citizens will remain feeling voiceless, powerless and disenfranchised. This cannot be good for the continued well-being of our country.

It is precisely because of these principles that we have decided to come forward together as the Young Democrats. We believe that together with our senior colleagues in the Party, we will be able to make a difference in this coming General Elections.

We pledge to put in our best in order to give the electorate what they have been clamouring for all these years: A well-managed and effective electoral campaign worthy of their votes.

Pledged,

Young Democrats
